of Union County
We are a group of Union County, New Jersey citizens who
share many of the same values which led to the founding of our country. We believe that government needs to be brought back to these values.
Constitutionally Limited Government Is Best We believe that our Founding Fathers were correct to provide limits on the power of the federal government. The Constitution gives the federal government power only over certain specific areas. All other governmental authority is left to the people and the States. We are not anti-government. But we do believe that government needs to be closer to the people. We need to take action to limit the federal government to the areas which our Founding Fathers provided for in the Constitution.
The Federal Government Must Cut Spending Federal government spending is far in excess of the historical level of federal spending as a percentage of the national economy. We believe the federal government is spending far too much money and that federal spending must be cut back.
The Federal Government Must Start Reducing its Debt The federal government owes almost $12 trillion in debt to the public (over $17 trillion including intra-governmental debt) and has over $126 trillion in unfunded liabilities. We believe that this amount of debt is unsustainable and that our children and grandchildren should not be burdened with this mountain of debt and the interest payments on it. We need to start paying this debt back now.
The Federal Government Must Allow Us to Make Our Own Choices Our country was founded on the principle that all of us as individuals have natural rights. Our rights are not given to us by the government. Each person has the right to make the most of their lives and to enjoy the benefits of their labor. The purpose of government is to provide for the common good by protecting those rights so that we can exercise them freely and without interference as long as doing so does not infringe on anyone else’s rights. That’s what the Declaration of Independence means when it says that we have been ordained by our creator with certain unalienable rights, among them the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The Politicians Should Listen to the Public Government at all levels is run by a political class which does not listen to the citizens, voters or taxpayers. It acts in its own self interest, primarily the politicians’ interest in being re-elected. The political class needs to be replaced with people who will listen to us and who will act in the public’s interest. We need to support candidates for federal, state county and municipal political offices who support our values.
If these ideas make sense to you, you should think about joining us and getting involved.

Get Involved With Your Local Political Party!
We strongly encourage like-minded conservative citizens to get involved in their local political parties. It doesn't matter which political party you are in. If you are a conservative Democrat, you may not be happy with the direction your party has taken these last 6, 10 or 20 years. (Would JFK be a Democrat today?) Certainly conservative Republicans aren't happy with their party. Here in New Jersey, conservative Republicans have the chance to run for local town and county Committees next June (June 2014). Conservative Democrats will have their chance in June 2016. All towns are divided into election districts and each district has a male and a female elected member of the party Committee. Many of these seats go unfilled. You can also get in touch with your local committee and try to get involved and go to the meetings even without getting elected. The way to get the political parties to be more responsive -- and responsible -- is for more regular common-sense conservative folks to get involved.
Both major parties have been run by career politicians for far too long. More 'regular folks' need to get involved. People with real world experience need to become more active and make their positions heard.
Many of us have gotten ourselves elected to official party committees. It is not all that difficult once you know what to do. In some cases only one or two votes, as write-in votes, was enough to get new people onto the local Committee. (Did we surprise some people!!)
If you want to be on the official ballot in the June election, you need to get from your town clerk a nominating form and get a certain number of signatures by early April. Likely only a few signatures will be needed. Or you can get elected as a write-in candidate in the June election itself. Please think about getting involved. It is fun to walk your neighborhood and talk to your neighbors and learn what they think.
You'll be surprised at how many people are feed up with business as usual in Washington, the state and the county.
We can point you to the rules and walk you thru the process. Please contact us if you want some help.
